Northeast Laboratories

Cannabis Testing Services

Emerald Badge

With the emergence of the medical marijuana market in the state of Connecticut in 2012, Northeast Laboratories was one of the first labs tasked with ensuring quality control and certification of products sold in state dispensaries, and overseen by the Department of Consumer Protection.

Northeast Laboratories can provide licensed growers with full quality control testing, stability studies, and certificates of analysis for all of their products.

With rigorous quality control measures, customer service, and expert staff, we remain the go to choice for cannabis testing in the State of Connecticut.

Potency

Accuracy in determining cannabinoid concentrations in cannabis products is of the utmost importance. Using high performance instruments, Northeast Laboratories has the ability to analyze over a dozen of the most commonly found cannabinoids, and provide you with a highly accurate and complete cannabinoid profile of your product.

Terpenes

Cannabis plants produce odiferous compounds as part of their natural defense mechanisms. These chemicals, called terpenes, are responsible for the stunning range of smells given off by cannabis plants. Terpene profiles are now considered a better way to differentiate strains than the classical indica vs sativa nomenclature. Northeast Laboratories has evolved to provide high accuracy in terpene analysis of all cannabis products.

Pesticides

Pesticides used in the cultivation of cannabis plants can pose a serious health risk when the end product is consumed and/or inhaled. These risks are magnified when consumed by patients who might be immunocompromised. Given the risks, Northeast Laboratories analyzes cannabis samples to the most rigorous of standards, in order to determine the presence of pesticides.

Mycotoxins

Mycotoxins are produced by molds and thus naturally occurring. These toxins can cause disease and, in very extreme cases, death. These risks are magnified when consumed by patients who might be immunocompromised. Given the risks, Northeast Laboratories analyzes cannabis samples to the most rigorous of standards, in order to determine the presence of mycotoxins.

Heavy Metals

Heavy metals pose serious health effects when ingested. Cannabis plants are notorious for their uptake of heavy metals from the soil which they are grown in. Utilizing the latest instrumentation for metals analysis, Northeast Laboratories has the ability to detect even the slightest presence of heavy metals which might contaminate your product. The metals we test for include mercury, lead, arsenic and cadmium.

In addition to final products, we provide testing of soil samples and raw materials used in your production to ensure each step of your process is compliant and to the highest manufacturing standards.

Residual Solvents

Residual solvents, such as ethanol, can be present in cannabis based products due to the manufacturing methods of these products. In order to ensure product quality and safety, these solvents are measured to determine if they are below allowable levels.

Microbiology Tests

We provide a myriad of microbiology tests for cannabis products in accordance with state regulations. Cannabis products can undergo tests including but not limited to total aerobic plate count, total yeast and mold plate count, pathogen identification and Aspergillus presence. Descriptions of these tests can be found on the food page.
